June 19, 2020

Good morning fam!

It’s the first day of 2020 and time to get to WORK…

First up, if you don’t have a website then 2020 is gonna be another wack year for you…

But, a website isn’t gonna magically save you from all your problems (that’s not how it works).

Your website is your own piece of internet real estate…

Your website is your 24/7 promotional and selling machine…

If you set it up right.

Unfortunately the truth is most artists have TERRIBLE websites that are a waste of time and effort (if they even have a website at all).

Most artists have no idea what the purpose of their website is…

Or know the 3 pages you absolutely NEED for a successful website that actually makes money for you (I’ll reveal these pages soon).

Fact is: Most people think the most important page on their website is their homepage (hint: it isn’t)

And, I was in the same boat about 9 years ago. Here’s the story:

It was around 2011 and I just discovered wordpress.org.

Before this, I was using free website builders like weebly and wix (so any website I created ended up looking like hot TRASH).

But now, I was taking a big step…

Joining the big boys club.

I bought my domain JCMpire.com and I started messing around with themes. I had to find the right one to represent my brand…

The theme I ended up using was super clean and sleek.

I only used the colours black and white, so my website ended up looking pretty good (if you’re not a designer, keep things as simple as possible or you’ll end up making something that looks really tacky).

But I had no real business agenda behind this website.

I thought that getting a website up was good marketing.

I thought it would get my name, brand and music out there.

And my biggest mistake?

I focused on my homepage and that’s pretty much it.

Sure, I had pages where people could listen to my music etc.

But my homepage was where I spent most of my effort.

I assumed that most visitors who got to my site would see my homepage – so it needed to be beautiful.

My JCMpire logo sat at the top of my homepage. It animated and flipped over.

What business goal does this solve?

None. It’s totally useless and distracting.

The rest of the homepage linked to other pages on the site…

This is basically all your homepage is good for…

It’s a hub connecting the rest of the content on your website.

But, here’s something I didn’t know back then:

The more choices you give to someone – the less likely they are to take ANY action (this phenomenon is called choice paralysis).

So, it’s VERY unlikely that some stranger will visit your homepage and click your connecting links to dive through the rest of your website.

In the best case scenario – your homepage should be dedicated to getting a visitor to take ONE main action (this will bring you much better results).

But first, you need to know what the main purpose of your website is.

Just creating a website is NOT good marketing.

If marketing is the main purpose of your website:

You need to create a blog and add relevant content to that website that your target audience will want to check out.

That’s content marketing in a nutshell.

There’s much more to it but we can get deeper into that in future emails.

The point is, if the purpose of your website is to reach more people – your blog is 10x more important that your homepage.

Right now, my JayCartere.com site’s main purpose is to get more email subscribers on my list.

If you visit my site right now, you’ll see how this is being done (and you can use these methods for yourself)…

With that being said, it’s time for me to reveal the 3 pages you absolutely NEED for a successful website that actually makes money for you:

1. Opt-in Page/ Landing page (This is where you collect email addresses and details so you can build your list and communicate with your audience when you want)

2. Sales Page (This is where you have a product or service for sale. You explain what the product/service does and why someone should get it. There should also be a button which people can click to buy the thing)

3. The video below will reveal page number 3 and show you how to create it for your own website…

Watch the rest of the videos in the playlist to get your website up and running from scratch.

If you wanna make money in your sleep in 2020 (it’s lovely stuff, trust me) then you need a website…

P.S.

Here’s an interesting question for you:

What’s the number 1 plugin that every music producer or artist needs?

Think about it…

This is ESSENTIAL for making good music…

It’s probably not what you think…

Check back here tomorrow for the answer.
