Top rappers like Young Thug, Gunna, Future and Jay-Z have a interesting way of recording…
First of all, they don’t write their lyrics…
Does that mean they memorise everything?
No, most of the time they don’t…
(Jay-Z sometimes memorizes and writes his lyrics in his head so he’s the exception)
Here’s what they do:
They record a line they’re thinking of.
Then they stop.
Then they record the next line.
And they repeat this process line by line until the song is done…
This is called: “Punching In”.
This is something I’ve been experimenting with (and having a lot of fun doing) and you can do the same too…
(My last 5 singles were recorded this way…)
It makes your songs have a completely different vibe than if you wrote all your lyrics out beforehand.
It’s freeing.
It’s spontaneous.
And, if you do it right – it flows smoothly like water…
Wanna know how to try it for yourself?
Good news:
In the video below, I reveal EXACTLY how you can setup your recording session to “punch in” your vocals efficiently…
