Working out like Arnold KILLS your gains

Last weekend I watched the Netflix Doc: “ARNOLD”
It’s about the life of the legendary Mr. Schwarzenegger
But, Arnold says something CRAZY in the 1st episode
He says he did:
- 20 sets per muscle
- Daily full body workouts
- 3 hour sessions 2x a day
4 reasons to AVOID this:
1. Muscle fatigue
Studies show:
10 sets / week grows muscle
20 sets / week grows more muscle
More than 20 sets / week is overtraining & leads to LESS muscle growth
20 sets per muscle per day is INSANE
Normal mortal men will STRUGGLE to finish 1 session
That’s not all:
2. Mental fatigue
If you can keep up with this ridiculous volume (you can’t)
You’ll quit
You’ll only stick to this style of training if you dedicate your life to it – like Arnold did
Tryna lose some fat and build a little muscle?

If your life doesn’t revolve around fitness – you don’t have time for 6 hours of training, 7 days a week
Truth is:
You’d be lucky to finish 20 sets per muscle in 3 hours
I do 20 sets per workout – takes me over an hour

The worst thing you can do is model your fitness & nutrition program from what a celeb says in an interview
Unless the interview is specifically about fitness – it’s misleading

The reality is:
It’s safe to say – Arnold learned better ways to train and adapted as he aged
Thing is:
People hear “20 sets, 3 hours, 2x a day, train everyday, eat chicken & broccoli”
And assume this is the blueprint to success – it’s not
Without fitness knowledge – it’s easy to be misled
