I didn’t play The Witcher 1 or 2, not that I didn’t want to. I wasn’t able to because they were exclusive to the PC. I tried to play both of them on my MacBook, but my MacBook was having none of that. The Witcher 2 did eventually come to Xbox 360, but I was over here enjoying that free online gaming on the PS3.

With The Witcher 3 coming out later this month on PS4, I’m very hyped and here are three reasons why:

1. I love RPGs

Jay Carteré | Jay Cartere | 3 Reasons Why I'm Looking Forward To The Witcher 3I’m a big fan of RPGs… the large amount of side quests and stuff to do, the satisfaction I get from starting as a wimp running away from a big monster and then departing on a soul searching journey, helping peasants kill their father in-laws etc. and returning to that big fucking bastard levelled up and transformed into a total killing machine, then kicking that creature’s ass like it was going out of style in order to repay it for making me cower in my boots. Yeah, I like RPGs. The Witcher 3 is an RPG. Simples.

2. Third Person Combat In An RPG

Jay Carteré | Jay Cartere | 3 Reasons Why I'm Looking Forward To The Witcher 3I haven’t played a third person RPG with great combat since Mass Effect 3. I’ve got Dragon Age Inquisition for the PS4 and the combat in that game is far from immersive or entertaining. The Witcher games have a focus on swordplay, magic, finesse and all that good stuff. They seem to be including wild finishing animations in The Witcher 3, which will make the combat very visceral and satisfying.

3. Great story and game-altering choicesJay Carteré | Jay Cartere | 3 Reasons Why I'm Looking Forward To The Witcher 3

I watched a walkthrough of The Witcher 2 and I was on the edge of my seat and looking forward to seeing what happened next constantly. The dialogue was witty and cheeky and there were twists and turns in the story around every corner. There were also a variety of hard decisions to make. If The Witcher 3 is anything like its predecessors or – even better – an upgrade, it’ll definitely keep me entertained for the foreseeable future.

There are many other reasons why I’m looking forward to The Witcher 3: the graphics, the free DLC and more, but these are my 3 main reasons why I’ll be grabbing the game later this May.
